Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a new palette?
Press the Generate button or just tap the spacebar — each press rolls a fresh set of colours. Pick a harmony first (complementary, triadic, analogous…) to keep the colours mathematically related.
What does locking a colour do?
A locked swatch stays put while everything else reshuffles, so you can pin the shades you love and keep generating around them.
Can I set an exact colour?
Yes — use the eyedropper on any swatch to open your system colour picker and dial in an exact hex. The rest of the palette can then be generated around it.
How do I use the palette in my project?
Click any swatch to copy its hex, or use the export bar to copy the whole palette as a plain hex list, ready-to-paste CSS custom properties (--color-1 …), or JSON with hex / rgb / hsl for each colour. You can also download a PNG.
What do the harmony modes mean?
They control how the hues relate: Complementary uses opposite hues, Triadic three evenly-spaced hues, Analogous neighbours on the wheel, Monochrome one hue at different lightness, and Auto a looser pleasing mix.
Is it free and private?
Completely free, no signup. Everything runs in your browser — no colours or palettes are ever uploaded anywhere.
